Rachel Porter

Ballet

Rachel was born and raised in South Carolina and grew up dancing in a variety of genres ranging from tap, jazz, contemporary, and ballet. Most of her later years, she spent dancing with the Columbia Conservatory of Dance, where she discovered a true love of ballet. During her junior and senior year of high school she joined the professional ballet company there, Columbia City Ballet, and performed various ballets; some her favorite lead roles being fairies in both Sleeping Beauty and A Midsummer’s Night dream.

She has participated in reputable competitions such as YAGP and made it to New York with one of the group pieces she performed in. She has also attended respected summer intensives with Ballet West, Joffrey Ballet, and BYU’s ballet program.

Rachel had the wonderful opportunity to serve in the California San Jose mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  During her time attending BYU, she had the pleasure of performing with Theatre Ballet. After graduation, Rachel danced professionally with the Utah Metropolitan Ballet. Dance has always been her passion and she hopes to be able to use it to bless and help the lives of others.
