SALEM CLASSES
KINDERGARTEN
EARLY CHILDHOOD
KINDERGARTEN
Throughout this one hour and fifteen minute class, children ages 5-6 explore monthly objectives such as music, movement concepts, and class etiquette. Students also participate in a free dance activity at the end of each class. Fifty-five minutes of class is spent studying ballet, and twenty minutes is spent learning the basics of tap.
In pre-ballet we focus on the basics of body alignment, proper feet/ legwork, and we learn the beginning vocabulary of ballet. Classes are structured the same as a traditional ballet class with a warm-up, center barre, and across the floor activities.
Our curriculum becomes more technical as the students’ ability increases in both balance and coordination. Their attention, concentration and language skills also continue to develop. In tap, we learn the basics of tap skills, rhythm and counting using our feet as the instrument.
