MYLA JOHNSON

Myla grew up in Michigan, appearing in her first show as Ms.
Macintosh in the school’s Johnny Appleseed production when she
was in 5 th grade. She appeared on stage throughout Junior High
and High School and loved it. Her favorite role was the evil
Queen from Once Upon a Mattress.
When it was time to go to college, she came to BYU in Provo,
Utah, a long way from home. She took a beginning dance class,
and she loved it! So she took another one, and another
one….she ended up getting a degree in Family Science, with a
minor in Ballroom Dance.
Fast forward to life with her two awesome boys, and they got to
be in plays at Harvest Elementary School. She showed up to be
a makeup and costume helper backstage, and eventually became
the co-director for Mary Poppins (2020) and Jungle Book (2021).
She loved being a director! The fun, beautiful chaos of creating
shows was magical! Her kids kept being involved in the
Saratoga Springs City Youth Theater in the summers, until she
became the Assistant Director for it in 2024, performing Disney’s
Newsies Jr. And that cast & crew was amazing!!!
During the weekdays you might find her at Vista Heights Middle
School, where she works as a Student Advocate. She loves
being a mom, loves to create, and automatically assumes that
everyone is her friend. She likes to be a safe person for people to
talk to, and she loves all the friends she makes.
She lives with her husband Mike (who prefers to be supportive
backstage and behind the scenes) and her sons Marcus and
Conrad, who are all taller than she is now. They have lived in

Saratoga Springs for 12 years. Myla enjoys reading, getting
together with friends, learning new things, dancing, and cheering
people on at their events—dance concerts, plays, band
performances, etc. Anything her people are at, she loves to show
up and support them.
Theater is a collaboration, and Myla LOVES it when people bring
their talents to share! We are all good at many things, but we
never have to do everything all at once, because we know
fabulous, amazing people who are willing to create with us!
