RACHEL COBIA

Rachel began dancing at the age of 3. She spent her childhood years in Mesa,
Arizona learning Ballet, Tap and Jazz. In addition, she was a gymnast for 8 years and
belonged to a competition team. At the age of 14, her family moved to Boise, Idaho
where she continued her dance training. She was a member of the high school dance
team, and found tremendous joy in performing.
Rachel attended Ricks College where she studied Modern and Ballroom, along with
Ballet and Jazz. She was a member of the Style Dance Team, which traveled around
eastern Idaho teaching Social Dance to youth groups.
Following graduation from Ricks College, Rachel transferred to BYU, and majored in
Dance. While at BYU she danced on the Ballroom Dance Team, was a teaching
assistant, and performed in two Homecoming Spectacular performances.
Before graduating BYU, Rachel began teaching in a private studio. She taught
children and adults for many years before moving to St. Louis, Missouri with her
husband and 3-month old daughter. For the next 13 years, Rachel taught in private
studios as her family moved from St. Louis, to West Virginia, and then to Chicago.
While teaching in Chicago for 8 years, she also studied Jazz at the Ruth Page Center
for the Arts.
Rachel and her family moved back to Utah in 2016, after 13 years away. They now
have 3 daughters. She is thrilled to be a part of Lifehouse, and for the opportunity to
share her experience, and passion for dance with the students here.
