LIFEHOUSE Saratoga Springs 2018-19 SEASON
Dear Parents and Students,
The 2018-19 season at Lifehouse Performing Arts Academy is almost upon us! We are excited to announce that Lifehouse plans to build a new state of the art studio that we hope will be ready for the 2019-20 season. We are grateful for all our families who have supported the studio as we established ourselves in a new area. We will announce the location as soon as the lot is secured. It will be in Saratoga Springs. We look forward to building a first-rate training program in the area and to move forward the studio’s mission and values.
We are excited to share with you our plans for the new year. Please take the time to review this letter thoroughly to ensure you are informed about important dates and class details.
Fall classes will begin Monday, August 20. Half tuition will be due for the month of August on August 22. Classes will continue through June 4, 2019. 1 /4 tuition will be due for June. Classes without adequate enrollment may be subject to changes or cancellation. If a class you are interested in becomes full, still enroll in the class and your student will be put on the waitlist. A new class may be created if needed. Please call the studio if you can’t find a class meeting your age and skill level.
Classes at the studio are divided into open and company classes. Open classes are open enrollment. Anyone may register who meets the age requirements. Company auditions for the 2018-19 season are on August 3. Information is available on the web-site and was emailed previously. The schedule for classes is available at the end of this document and also online. Go to lifehouseacademy.com and hover your mouse over the heading Classes at the top of the page. This will pull up a drop down menu with subcategories of classes. Select Saratoga Springs and click on the classes that interest you. You will find class details there. Registration opens on August 1.

We love having male artists at the studio!
Boys are meant to dance. Despite the culture of our country, real men do dance. Lifehouse offers special discounts to male students. Male students can take unlimited classes for $65 a month. We are committed to teaching our male students to dance and perform like men. We have teachers skilled in training them to move in a masculine way. In the arts we tell stories. Boys are half of the population. It is hard to tell stories without that part of the population represented! The arts can be an amazing influence on young men and is every bit as athletic and requires just as much physical endurance and strength as any sport. Boys who excel in the arts have many opportunities to pay their way through college through scholarships and paid performance opportunities because they are so needed. If you have a son who is interested, please consider encouraging them to participate. At Lifehouse we have a wonderful group of male students. They are good young men and boys and the studio is having a very positive influence in their lives. If you have a son who is interested, I would love to meet with you. It has been wonderful to see the number of boys at Lifehouse continue to grow. I would love more.

Dance fees for 2018-19
When it comes to pricing, I always strive to offer the best value in Utah Valley. I want high quality training in the arts to be accessible to as many children as possible.
Registration Fees: A yearly $20 registration fee is required to enroll each student. (If your student enrolled in summer dance, the registration fee has already been charged.) There is a $50 maximum registration fee per family. Registration fee is non-refundable.
Recital fees: There will be a $25 recital fee per family per performance with each ticket costing
$6. Last year, the Covey Center raised their prices significantly. I tried last year to cover costs without raising the ticket price, but the cost increase at the Covey was just to significant to cover without raising the ticket price. Local high school auditoriums are even more expensive than the Covey to rent.
Recital fees are due by January 31, 2019. You will be sent an invoice as a reminder the first of January. Recital fees cover the cost of providing professional and meaningful performance opportunities for the students including paying the rental fee of the facility, the tech crew, props, backdrops, event insurance and employees who help to facilitate a wonderful experience for the student and their families. Dance is a performing art and learning how to conduct oneself professionally at performances and feeling comfortable on the stage are all an important part of performing arts education. It is the reward for the student’s hard work.
Costume Fees: Costuming is an important part of dance and essential to producing high quality performances. I am committed to keeping costumes as affordable as possible while maintaining quality standards. Students will have between 2-5 costumes depending on their level and number of performances.
The purchase price of costumes cost are between $50-$65. Whenever possible, we will rent costumes. Costume rental fees are $30-$40. We rent certain costumes because it allows us to have much higher quality costumes while keeping costs down for everyone. The costume rental fee is used to cover the cost of tailoring, cleaning, repairing and storing the costumes. A
non-refundable costume deposit will be required at the time of registration. The amount of the deposit is between $30-$60 for open classes and company classes are $100. This deposit will be credited toward costume payments. Final costume payments are due April 1.
Tuition is based on a monthly fee and not a per class basis. Payment is the same no matter how many times your child attends class. If class has to be canceled due to bad weather or teacher illness, you will be notified and a makeup class scheduled. I ask that you only sign up for dance if you are committed to finish through the June recital. I believe in finishing what you start. A dancer must participate in the
performances to receive the full benefit and reward of their dancing training. A student’s lack of commitment and follow through affects their entire class and inhibits the teacher’s ability to help their classes have a successful experience on the stage. If you are unable to finish the dance year through June, you must give written notification. For open classes, you will be responsible for tuition 30 days after the studio receives your written notification of withdrawal. Your student may attend class during this time. For company students, you will be responsible for two months of tuition after the studio receives your written notification and your student stops attending class. Remember, costume and registration fees are non-refundable.
Price of monthly tuition based on hours at the studio per week:
- 50 minutes $40
- 1 hour $50
- 1 ¼ hours $55
- 1 ½ hours $60
- 2 hours $80
- 2 ½ hours $95
- 3 hours $110
- 4 hours $135
- 5 hours $155
- 6 hours $170
- 7 hours $185
- 8 hours $195
- 9 hours $205
- 10 hours $215
- 11 hours $225
- 12 hours $235
- Unlimited $255
Family discount: Your first child 5% discount on tuition. A 10% discount will be given to any additional family members. The 10% tuition discount will be applied to the lowest tuition amounts.
This year we need to tighten up our payment policy. We have too many people who are not paying on time or at all and this fact is making it difficult to keep costs affordable for everyone and run the studio in a sustainable way. Here is Lifehouse’s payment policy:
- All outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to registration.
- A valid debit or credit card must be on file for your account. This information is securely stored in an encrypted database within Studio Director and will only be used to process payments for your account.
- All accounts must be paid in full by the end of each month. No exceptions.
- Tuition is due by the first of each month and can be paid by cash, check, auto-pay with your debit/credit card, or self-initiated debit/credit card payment. There is a 10 day grace period for tuition payments. If tuition is not paid by the tenth, the debit or credit card we have on file will be charged and a confirmation email will be sent to you. If we are unable to process your debit or credit card because it has either become invalid or has insufficient funds, a $15 late fee will be assessed and you will be required to submit payment and provide a valid debit or credit card for your account by the last day of the month.
- If you are unable to pay your account in full by the end of the month, an email will be sent to you informing you of the situation. Your student will be automatically unenrolled from Lifehouse until such time as the account balance has been paid and a valid debit or credit card is provided for your account. Unenrolled students will be required to re-enroll and pay a registration fee to participate at Lifehouse.
- Those who are participating in a trade for dance will also be required to abide by the terms of Lifehouse’s payment policy and keep a valid debit or credit card on file. A positive account balance for trade services offered can be used to pay for dance. If at any time your account balance becomes negative, you will be required to pay your balance in full by the end of each month.
Please understand the only purpose of this payment policy is to properly enforce receiving payment for services rendered. I wish we didn’t have to have a strict policy, but it has become clear that we must in order to continue offering quality dance instruction in an affordable way. The time and effort required collecting past payments and the balance of our accounts receivable are making it very difficult to run the business. I do my best to be up front and clear with the cost involved to participate so you can decide if participating in dance at Lifehouse is feasible for you and your family.
How do I register?
Online registration will be open and available, Wednesday, August 1.

If during the year you ever have concerns about your child’s dance training or if your child is having a difficult time, please come talk to me and we will together find an appropriate solution. I have always found that it is better to deal with issues directly and specifically one-on-one. You may leave Annie a message at the Saratoga studio at 385-230-2199 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have a bookkeeping or account question, call Katie Hirst at 801-702-9645 or email her at email@example.com. To contact Nesha email firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a
message at 801-423-7899. We will get back with you in 48 hours. I’m looking forward to a wonderful and productive year!
